My Gaming Backlog

On gaming site Kotaku, I was reading an older article about one staffer's backlog of video games that he hasn't put any time into. He had a pretty large stack of games released in 2010. He seemed a bit embarrassed by it, but he really has nothing to be ashamed of. I, on the other hand, have a lot to be embarrassed about because I have a massive backlog of games, not necessarily from this year, but from years upon years ago.

What often happens is that a game comes out that I really want to play, so I buy it and play it for the first few days or so and then get sidetracked or something and never go back to it. Also, sometimes something comes out that I start playing and really love, so then I devote all my time to that game until I beat it, but never go back to what I was playing before. The game that has done that for me lately is Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Wii. It is an incredibly fun sequel to the 2007 SMG, and I have played it pretty consistently aside from the last few weeks. I have 96 stars, so I will probably try and finish the game this weekend. What will I play next?

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is coming out on Tuesday! It's a great-looking 2D fighting game for PS3 and X360.

To make this post even longer, here's a short list of games that I really want to play through to completion but haven't even touched. Some I have played a bit, but not enough to say that I've seen much of what the games have to offer... Most will be from my massive PS2 collection.

1. Batman: Arkham Asylum (X360)
2. Super Paper Mario (Wii) - I was actually playing this game for a particularly long time, but I stopped because of a family emergency that happened that day, and I feel weird about going back to it.... :(
3. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (PS2) - I'm pretty backed up on the SMT series in general. I have beaten Persona 3, 3 FES, and 4, but I still have this one, Devil Summoner 1 and 2, Devil Survivor, Strange Journey, and Digital Devil Saga to play!
3. Rogue Galaxy (PS2) - I put this game in for about 20 minutes. The graphics are awesome, but I didn't even try to play it. I just watched the first opening scenes. How sad!
4. Ninja Gaiden II (X360) - I love Ninja Gaiden, but I stopped playing this game because I got stuck on something and never went back to it. It is ridiculously hard in some places, and I really don't have the patience for it.
5. Bioshock (X360)- My brother gave me this game, and I played it for about 45 minutes. I enjoyed it, as it was fun and the graphics were amazing, but I never put it back in after that one time. I want to get back to it because it is a highly-acclaimed game and I feel out of the loop not having played it.
6. Scarface: The world is Yours (PS2) - Scarface is one of my favorite movies, and I really wanted to play through to the end of this one, but I stopped early on because it seemed like a Grand Theft Auto clone, which I'm not too fond of. I let someone borrow it and just got it back about a month ago. He had it for 2 YEARS!
7. Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams (PS2)
8. Dead Rising (X360) - There's a sequel coming out now! I have to play this one!

The games keep coming, and I keep buying 'em. Here are a few that I'd like to pick up and add to the backlog!

Final Fantasy XIII
NIER
Sin and Punishment: Star Successor
Transformers: War for Cybertron
Trauma Team
Bayonetta
Red Steel 2
Red Dead Redemption

How is your backlog?
